Oct 14 Fells - Action Info
If you've ever had any recent doubts about the Friends of the Fells being an anti-mountain bike hate organization, they've cleared it up for you. As I noted last night, they are now promoting a new website, bikesvnature.org, from their home page which is all about furthing falsehoods and untruths about impacts of mountain biking on trails. That all of the photos he posts show trails that are perfect examples of the lack of trail design and years of no good trail maintenance is emplematic of his ignorance about what the actual issues are.

This website is likely the work of one Steve Gyurina, perpetrator of the wheeled-locusts.rg anti-mtb hate website a few years ago. That FoF are promoting it means we now know explicitly what their position is on mountain biking. Steve Gyurina is also a card-carrying FoF member as far as we know.

The most concerning part of this is that this is the same type of anti-mtb hate zealotry that has gotten mountain bikers attacked. Anyone remember Mike Vandeman? Steve probably drinks his kool-aid by the gallon. That these beliefs are now out in public coming from the FoF via their homepage shouldn't really surprise anyone and is kind of a relief that they are confirming for us where they really stand.

So, what can we do? First, not one of us should stoop to their level, especially not the Mike Vandeman level of promoting violence against those you don't like. But we should make our voices heard, LOUDLY.
