8/18/2011: Thursday Night LLF Social Ride is ON!
8/24/2011: Fells Wed. Night PYT Ride is ON!
UPDATE: This has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 14th, 6:30pm-8:00pm
The rubber is about to meet the road - or singletrack - hopefully in our case.
DCR announced a public meeting on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011, 6:30pm - 8:00pm at the McGlynn School in Medford where they will present the overview of the forthcoming RMP for the Fells. The full RMP draft will be available online after the presentation.
Following this presentation will be a 60-day public comment period.
This will be a very significant presentation, folks. Our hope all along has been that DCR not just knows what is the right thing to do with equitable access in the Fells (they got most of the right answers in the now-shelved Draft Trails Plan) - but *acts* on the right thing: open up a meaningful quantity of singletrack to shared-use and provide real, equitable access for mountain biking in the Fells.
Let's get a strong turnout there - this has been a long time coming, and many of us have lost faith in the process and the disappointments along the way - who can blame us? Remember, the MTB community has been beating our heads against the wall lobbying this issue for almost twenty-five years. But, DCR has a great opportunity here to set things right.
I'm hoping we see good, meaningful change. I'm going to stay optimistic. Come join me and let's see.
Spread the word. Immediately following the presentation stay tuned on next action steps in the public comment period.
